ACCESSORIES : HANDICRAFT



Talking about accessories, first phrase to be mentioned is, "Girl's best friend!" But, to be more precise, accessories can be defined in many ways. It can be fashion's accessory, car's accessory and etc. In our blog, you can see that we are more into the handmade accessories. Handicraft among the people in our beloved state, Sabah, began as their quest for shelter, clothing and feed the best way they can. They produce a wide range of products which are mainly for functional materials and less attention to the decoration. Objects produced include home appliances, farming and hunting in addition to objects for use in rituals and religious ceremonies. Their handcrafts on environmental resources and needs in terms of culture.

Men and women are traditionally made of various kinds of handicrafts. In the interior, a large number of women hat making, mat weaving, cloth weaving, embroidery, small baskets, coconut and small objects for everyday use. While men make larger baskets, parang, plowing and hunting, nets and other fishing gear and weapons. Among coastal fishing communities, men construct boats, wood carving, fishing and women weave and embroider cloth, weave mats and others.
